How do you calculate the electricity consumption needed to install solar energy at home?

If you are considering installing a solar power system, you need to calculate your electricity consumption accurately in order to ensure a suitable system to fully meet your needs!

First step | Calculation of daily electricity consumption

*Look at the monthly electricity bill, and look for the consumption in kWh / hour (kWh).

*If your monthly consumption, for example, 300 kWh, divide it by 30 days = your daily consumption = 10 kWh.

^Manual home appliance consumption calculation:

If you have a bill, count manually:

Conditioner 1500W (works 5 hours per day) 7.5 kWh per day

Refrigerator 200W (24 hours per day) ا 4.8 kWh per day

TV 100W (5 hours per day) ً 0.5 kWh per day

LED bulbs (10 bulbs x 10W) (6 hours per day) 0. 0.6 kWh per day

Total = 13.4 kWh per day

Second step | Determining the size of solar panels required

Each solar panel produces 300-650W depending on the type, and the sun gives efficient power of about 5 hours a day.

If you consume 10 kWh daily and use 600W panels:

Production within 5 hours a day 10 kilos

10000/5=2000 watt per hour

The number of solar panels required 2000/600=4 panels

Required quantity = approximately 4 panels

Third step | Battery Calculation (if you want a off-grid system)

*Autonomous systems need batteries to store electricity, such as lithium or gel batteries.

*For the required batteries:

*Calculate daily consumption x number of days of storage required

*Use 51.2V batteries with adequate capacity (for example, 300Ah for a single battery covering about 15.36 kWh).


Last step | Select Inverter (Inverter)

*Inverter converts energy from DC to AC, and should be more powerful than your highest current consumption.

*Example: If you need 5 kW at the same moment, you should choose a 6-7 kW inverter to ensure comfortable operation.
